Mohua Moitra's Bungalow
The news is that Mahua Moitra, the expelled MP (from the TMC party) has vacated the bungalow at 9B, Telegraph Road, New Delhi, as ordered by the Delhi High Court . The same accommodation along with a host of related perquisites that had been hers to enjoy as a Member of Parliament.
Delhi HC: Do As the DoE Does
She could have continued enjoying the same till the 2024 Parliamentary elections had she not been expelled from the Lok Sabha late last year. The Delhi High Court had refused her a stay on the vacation/ eviction notice served by the Directorate of Estates (DoE).

A lot of us have our peccadilloes or faults or maybe even fetishes (in a non-vulgar sense). Funny things, our fetishes. They may land us in places we thoroughly regret. We may not extend the same leeway to a graduate in economics and an ex-Vice President at a MNC investment firm, indulging herself in the kind of freebies she seems to have received.
The Bunga-lure
Whatever we may fault Mahua Moitra on, it may not be for want of enough commitment to her rent-free freebie. She had even got herself some medical treatment from a private hospital and maybe a doctor's certificate too. The doctor's certificate may even recommend complete bedrest, preferably in a government provided bungalow for best results. Strangely, in her unrequited request to the Delhi HC, Mahua had asked for an extension of four months before vacating the bungalow.
No Four Months, Just Forfeit
Four months is a curiously long time for an extension request as the Honourable High Court observed. Possibly Moitra was counting on getting re-elected as a Member of Parliament in the forthcoming general elections. We cannot grudge the lady her desire to return to 'power and pelf'.
Bungle With Your Beau, Bid Bye to the Bungalow
Mahua Moitra may have every right to. But her case with her constituency may have been on stronger grounds had she not slipped off her feet, or maybe fetish. But the root cause may yet be the lust that did not last. Just reminds us that those staying in free Bungalows ought not to jilt their 'free beaus'. It may cost them their 'freebies'.
